Molly is getrouwd met John, een ingenieur die een prototype van een
geavanceerde androïde heeft gebouwd. Deze heeft het uiterlijk van een kleine
lieve jongen. John noemt hem Ethan en ziet de androïde als zijn zoon.
Na afloop van haar missie keert Molly terug naar haar gezin. Dit leidt echter
tot een aantal opmerkelijke gebeurtenissen. Ze blijkt tijdens haar solo missie
namelijk op mysterieuze wijze zwanger te zijn geraakt. Dit terwijl ze voorheen
onvruchtbaar was. Hoe is dit mogelijk? Molly kan zich alleen herinneren dat ze
tijdens haar missie een onverklaarbare ontmoeting had met haar overleden
ex-vriend.

"Extant" is a futuristic thriller that follows a female astronaut who tries to
reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her
experiences lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history.

Entertainment. "Our partnership with Amblin for Under the Dome showed that
viewers respond to high-quality event programming in the summer. We look forward
to building on that with Extant and offering CBS audiences another high-concept,
unique event for summer television." Steven Spielberg will executive-produce
"Extant" alongside Greg Walker, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and
Mickey Fisher, who will also pen the project.
